Tina Knowles, the mother of global superstar Beyoncé, responded to Kanye West’s recent online tirade against her grandchildren with a firm and dignified message. The 71-year-old matriarch addressed West’s attack on Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 7-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, calling his words “ignorant and evil.”
West, 47, took to social media on Tuesday night, making disparaging remarks about the mental capacity of the twins. Although he quickly deleted the post, he later re-uploaded it, clarifying that his decision was not driven by remorse but by concerns about his account being suspended.
Tina Knowles Responds to Kanye West’s Rant
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Knowles shared a video of herself telling a lighthearted joke but paired it with a serious caption. She stated that it is difficult to remain “positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil” but affirmed her faith, saying that “no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper.”
Knowles, known for her composed public demeanor, expressed confidence that the situation was in God’s hands, adding, “This battle is not mine, but the Lord’s.”
West later acknowledged his remarks were inappropriate and admitted he felt regret. He insisted, however, that he had always felt like an outsider in the music industry and resented Beyoncé and Jay-Z for not supporting him, particularly during his highly publicized split from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
West Claims Betrayal by Jay-Z and Beyoncé
In his post, West reflected on past grievances, revealing that he was hurt when the power couple skipped his 2014 wedding to Kardashian. He also criticized Jay-Z for choosing Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show instead of him.
“I love Jay-Z and I do feel bad,” West wrote. “I always felt like the black sheep, like I wanted family in this music thing.”
He went on to say that Beyoncé and Jay-Z had the influence to support him during his legal and personal battles but instead chose to distance themselves. “They could have used their cultural position to give me more leverage against my ex-wife,” he said, referencing his ongoing disputes with Kardashian over their four children.
Longstanding Feud Reignited
West and Jay-Z were once close collaborators, producing the critically acclaimed album Watch the Throne in 2011. However, their relationship soured in 2016 after West publicly criticized Jay-Z for failing to check on him following Kardashian’s traumatic robbery in Paris. The tension escalated when West accused the couple of looking down on him and refusing to support his ventures.
West has also been embroiled in controversy for making inflammatory comments about other public figures, including his recent claim that singer Cassie Ventura extorted $30 million from Sean “Diddy” Combs in a legal dispute.
Despite the backlash, neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z have publicly addressed West’s remarks, leaving Tina Knowles’ response as the only statement from the family.
