After seeming to dig subtly at her brother’s girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet’s sister Pauline Chalamet is making news. The 32-year-old actress wrote a scathing comment on billionaires, which sparked rumors that she was subtly slanted toward the reality star, who owns an empire in cosmetics, fashion, and social media.
Originally from the left-wing political party Move On, Pauline—known for her part in HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls—shared a post. The message attacked the ultra-wealthy for shunning financial obligations, saying that if a job calls for a college degree, employees should be allowed to write off student loans the same way CEOs write off private planes and yachts as company expenses.
Though she did not specifically identify Jenner, the message resonated with supporters as the 27-year-old beauty entrepreneur has been attacked for her extravagant lifestyle, including her use of a private jet, Kylie Air.
Pauline also seemed to show contempt for great riches in other contexts, including her repost. She questioned whether such enormous wealth should exist in the first place and attacked millionaires in another since-deleted article for paying little taxes.
Though Pauline has never openly attacked Kylie or her relationship with Timothée, supporters soon made connections. Some speculated on social media whether the Chalamet family objects to the Oscar-nominated actor courting a reality star-turned-business magnate.
“Could you see your brother or son arriving home with a Kardashian? His family should be worried,” one person said, discussing whether Kylie’s extravagant lifestyle conflicts with the Dune star’s reputation as a quiet, indie-film lover.
Pauline was spotted kindly welcoming Kylie at an October event, implying that any potential conflict is still under surface level despite the internet talk.
Timothée and Kylie seem unconcerned by the noise while conjecture about Pauline’s social media behavior runs wild. Recently seen enjoying a trip to Paris, the couple was promoting A Complete Unknown, the new Bob Dylan movie.
Though initially dubious of their love, the duo has become increasingly public about their romance. Though it’s unknown whether Pauline’s postings were meant as a direct swipe at Kylie, one thing is certain: Timothée and Kylie don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
