Broadway star Sutton Foster has opened up about the emotional turmoil she endured during her divorce from Christian Borle. Despite years of friendship and love, the Tony Award winner admitted their marriage was doomed from the start.
The Younger actress, now 50, revealed that although she fought for their relationship, Borle had already moved on. Years later, Foster shocked fans by stepping into a high-profile romance with Hollywood icon Hugh Jackman.
Marriage Crumbles Amid Cheating Speculation
Foster and Borle met at Carnegie Mellon University and later tied the knot in 2006. However, just three years later, their marriage came to an end. In her 2023 memoir, Hooked, Foster recalled the devastating moment when she first learned that tabloids had accused her of infidelity.
Her agent called to inform her about a shocking article that blamed their divorce on her. She described the moment as surreal, comparing it to having her entire personal life exposed on a sidewalk.
Foster quickly shut down the rumors, insisting that neither she nor Borle had been unfaithful. She explained that their relationship felt more like a deep friendship rather than a marriage. While they initially tried couples’ therapy, Borle eventually fell in love with someone else.
She admitted that watching him remove his wedding ring during a therapy session was the moment she knew their relationship was truly over.
From Divorce to a New Love With Hugh Jackman
Despite the heartbreak, Foster and Borle remained close friends. They even reunited professionally, starring together in the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix.
Following their divorce, Foster married screenwriter Ted Griffin in 2014. Their relationship lasted a decade before coming to an end in 2024.
Shortly after, Foster’s love life made headlines again when she was linked to Hugh Jackman, who had recently ended his 27-year marriage to Deborra-Lee Furness. Insiders claimed Foster and Jackman grew closer after his separation, and their connection quickly turned romantic.
A source revealed that the couple is deeply in love and spending significant time together. While they are not rushing into marriage, they are reportedly discussing their future as a couple.
With her past heartbreak behind her, Foster seems to have found happiness again. While her journey through love and loss has been anything but simple, she remains focused on embracing the next chapter of her life.
