Billionaire Elon Musk, in a virtual address at the World Governments Summit, endorsed the eradication of several US government agencies to reduce bureaucracy and restore democratic governance under President Trump.
Elon Musk, a billionaire, stated on Thursday that President Trump’s plan to drastically reform the United States government includes the elimination of numerous federal agencies.
“We do need to delete entire agencies, as opposed to leave part of them behind. Just leave part of them behind. It’s easy. It’s kind of like leaving a weed,” when speaking via video call at the World Governments Summit in Dubai.
“If you don’t remove the roots of the weed, then it’s easy for the weed to grow back. But if you remove the roots of the weed, it doesn’t stop weeds from ever going back, but it makes it harder.”
“So we have to really delete entire agencies, many of them.”
These remarks come at a time when Musk has been under fire this week for his role as an unelected official with unprecedented power to open new tabs in the Republican president’s plan to demolish portions of the United States government.
Following Trump’s inauguration on January 20, Musk directed his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to investigate government databases containing sensitive financial and personnel data.
Musk has successfully spearheaded an effort to defund the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which helps those in need all around the globe, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which safeguards Americans from predatory lenders.
The wealthiest man in the world, Elon Musk, has spoken out against government employees, labeling them as unelected bureaucrats who dodge responsibility to the American people.
Rather than a democracy based on the will of the people, Musk informed the Dubai audience that bureaucracy rules the place. Their goal is to get the government back under the control of the people, which translates to less regulation and a smaller federal government.
Musk, who owns the X social networking platform in addition to SpaceX and Tesla, is the CEO of both companies, and Trump has stated that he will absolve himself of any responsibility for potential conflicts of interest that may arise from his endeavors to reduce government spending.
