Ben Affleck is making sure his son Samuel learns the value of hard work—one pair of sneakers at a time. The Oscar-winning actor recently shared a hilarious moment about his 13-year-old’s expensive taste, joking that his son refused to do chores to pay for a $6,000 pair of Dior Air Jordan 1 sneakers.
Ben Affleck’s Hilarious Parenting Moment
Affleck, 52, attended the Got Sole sneaker convention with Samuel, where the teen set his eyes on the ultra-rare designer kicks. When Affleck saw the price tag, he reminded his son that luxury items don’t come free.
The actor told Samuel he would have to mow lawns to afford the shoes, but the teenager quickly lost interest. Affleck joked that as soon as Samuel realized he needed to work for them, the sneakers weren’t as appealing anymore.
The “Gone Girl” star also pointed out the financial gap between them, reminding Samuel that while he may think the family has money, it is Affleck’s wealth—not his son’s.
Father-Son Bond Over Sneakers
Despite his playful lecture, Affleck and his son enjoyed their time at the convention. The father-son duo was seen checking out different styles, with Samuel defending his love for the Dior Jordans by insisting they were stylish, not just expensive.
Affleck, reportedly worth $150 million, teased his son about how many lawns he would need to mow to afford them. Though it’s unclear if they purchased the sneakers, they were seen leaving with several shopping bags.
Affleck shares Samuel, along with daughters Violet, 19, and Seraphina, 16, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The two have maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship, despite Affleck’s recent divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
Affleck’s Life After Divorce
Affleck’s sneaker convention outing came amid reports that he is happier than he has been in years following his split from Lopez. While a source claimed he would love another chance with Garner, she remains content in her relationship with businessman John Miller.
Affleck, who is known for his candid humor, continues to balance his Hollywood career with fatherhood. His lesson to Samuel may have been playful, but it sent a clear message—hard work comes before high-priced sneakers.
